The History of Sales

📅  31st January 2021 | 2020/21 Sales Book Reviews

Coming up in February will be reviews on recently published sales books including “Selling Is Hard, Buying Is Harder” by Garin Hess and Selling Transformed by Dr Philip Squire of Consalia .

Selling Transformed and to a certain degree, Todd Caponi’s book, The Transparency Sale take a look back into sales history. Sales has been around for eons – question is, how did they do it centuries ago? I guess by understanding human nature and tapping into people’s emotions – so not too different from 2021. Any student of selling would do well to read one of the sales classics. I still have a copy of Frank Bettger’s “How I Raised Myself From Failure to Success in Selling” which was originally published in 1947.

There’s been some feedback in the past few days. A couple of people have asked me whether I’m sent books to review by the respective authors. Not as a rule (only a rare exception). My mission is to give an honest appraisal. I’m not here to boost someone’s rankings on Amazon, Barnes & Noble or at Goodreads.com so they become an ‘award-winning author’.
